When I watch a movie, especially a straight to DVD movie, I have a, did they do their best based on the film makers resources, point of view. With an estimated budget of 5 to 6 million dollars, I believe they did. Does it do justice to the first one? No is my opinion.
The film has b-list and no list actors, When making an action-comedy, I believe film makers have to know when wisecracks and jokes are not necessary Its like that friend of yours that isn't very funny but is always cracking a joke, you end up not laughing even when, eventually, he cracks a funny one (we all have those mates). Its the same concept with this movie. Im not saying its a bad movie I actually enjoyed it. The scenery is good, action scenes are great and the animals are beautiful. Selina lo (tsukai) and Krystal vee (silda) made the movie easier on the eyes.
All being said, I reckon you should check the movie out.

Superman man of steel
Man of steel will not be based on any of the comics, (many fans don't approve of this), but is based on superman's early days
Directed by Zack Snyder, who stated, “In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognised and revered character of all time, and I am honoured to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry Cavill. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”
Synopsis
"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. When the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as Superman, not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves" imbd.com
Filming started on the 21st of July 2011.Warner bros wanted the film to be released in December 2012, but is set to be released on June 14 2013.
I have never really enjoyed watching superman movies. To me its about a guy who has powers, issues and a really bad dress code, running around doing "stuff" for 90 minutes. I enjoyed 300 and Dawn of the dead, so maybe Zack Snyder can change my opinion. If Watchmen is anything to go by, it will be not worth watching.
Director - Zack Snyder
Henry Cavill... Superman
Kevin Costner ... Jonathan Kent
Russel Crowe...Jor-el
Diane Lane ... Martha Kent
Amy Adams ... Lois Lane
Michael Shannon ... General Zod
